Santoum lies about Obama

Rick Santorum says President Barack Obama "has put (up) a stop sign … against oil drilling, against any kind of exploration offshore or in Alaska." This is completely untrue. I wonder if how many of these are just made up entirely on the spot. Permits have slowed because of tighter regulations set ordered by Obama but they have far from stopped.

Romney Stands by Global Warming Beliefs, RomneyCare Mandate

Governor Mitt Romney of MAImage via Wikipedia
Mitt Romney has stood by several beliefs that are contrary to those of mainstream Republicans. In the past, the GOP frontrunner has voiced his belief that Global Warming is caused by humans. This week at a town hall, he stood by this statement. In this tenure as Governor of Massachusetts, he passed a low similar to Obama's Affordable Care Act, also known as "ObamaCare". This "RomneyCare" has the same individual mandate so despised by Republican and Tea Party voters. However, Romney still stands by the law, emphasizing other differences between the two. Can Romney get the GOP nomination by being contrary to the average Republican voter on two important issues?

High Unemployment? Blame Government Cuts

There are people who like to blame Obama's policies for the high unemployment rate. They say it is bad for business. If you look at the past year you will see a different story.

Mining +86,000
Manufacturing +158,000
Leisure and Hospitality +220,000
Trade, transportation and ultilities +288,000
Education and Health +445,000
Professional and Business Services +520,000
All others with minor changes +36,000 (total)

Total private change: +1,753,000

There are two reasons why it hasn't been any easier to get a job
1) Discouraged workers have reentered the market
2) Local, State and Federal Government workers -873,000

Accounting for government cuts, the economy only added 900,000 jobs. Thanks to government cuts, the net creation has been almost halved. If those 873,000 weren't cut, there would be that many more openings for the 14.8 million unemployed Americans. If it weren't for these cuts, the unemployment rate would be 8.6%.

Summary: The private sector is getting bigger, but the public sector is offsetting that by shrinking.

The GOP Thinks the Economy is a Joke

I was catching up on my reading when a certain article caught my eye. Apparently, the 'Democrat debt ceiling increase' defeated earlier this week was actually sponsored by a Republican. I thought this was odd so I kept reading. It all started to make sense when I discovered that it was more smoke and mirrors, it's chief sponsor Dave Camp (R-Mich) said "This vote, a vote based on legislation I have introduced, will and must fail." Seriously? How much more disingenuous can you get? Maybe I am jumping to conclusions, maybe this wasn't all theater...except he made a statement to Wall Street assuring them that this was nothing more than theater. I wish they would take this situation seriously. We didn't elect you to entertain us, GOP. Now if you are done putting on a show you can address some of the nation's problems for a change. You can't point fingers at Obama all day and do nothing but act.

Quote of the Day: June 2, 2011

"It kinda seems weird that these Muslims from Egypt, Pakistan, Libya & IRAN are agreeing with Obama!!!! I mean don't they MURDER people because they DONT AGREE WITH SHARIA??????!!!! Dont they MURDER CHRISTIANS????"

I know that it is pretty early in the day, but I know a Quote of the Day when I see one. This is a prime example of the ignorance and prejudice that perpetuates hate. This is so incorrect that it is sad; if you agree with this quote, you should start Googling 'Islam'.

Obama Still Strong A Month After Osama

Official presidential portrait of Barack Obama...Image via WikipediaAfter the killing of Osama Bin Laden, President Barack Obama's popularity skyrocketed. Now, a month later, The RCP Average shows Obama at 51.8 approval and 44.4 disapproval, or a +7.4 spread. Before Osama was killed, Obama's RCP average was 46.7 approval and 47.7 disapproval, or a -1.0 spread. In the past month, Obama's approval rating has gone up and his disapproval rating has gone down. This shows that Obama is a more popular man now than he was before he ordered the killing of Osama Bin Laden.
