GOP Tax Hike On the Middle Class

House GOP to reject third payroll tax extension bill, effectively giving a $1000+ tax hike on the average American family.  Even though they signed a no-tax pledge that they used as an excuse to not raise taxes on the rich, they have no problem giving a tax hike to the middle class.  They see it as a win for the Democrats when they should see it as a win for the American people.

"My House colleagues should be clear on what their vote means today," Reid said in a Monday statement. "If Republicans vote down the bipartisan compromise negotiated by Republican and Democratic leaders, and passed by 89 senators including 39 Republicans, their intransigence will mean that in ten days, 160 million middle class Americans will see a tax increase, over two million Americans will begin losing their unemployment benefits, and millions of senior citizens on Medicare could find it harder to receive treatment from physicians."

Obama and Senate Democrats have each proposed legislation that were voted down by House GOP.  This most recent legislation is a bipartisan Senate bill.
